Ingredients Used to Make Natural Disinfectants
1. Vinegar
A favourite disinfectant of all time is Vinegar. It is easily available and is used to sanitise food surfaces, removing laundry stains, kitchen, windows, etc. It can also be used for cleaning produces like fruits and vegetables. The only drawback with vinegar is the smell. One needs to keep in mind that it can kill viruses and bacteria but not all.
2. Vodka
Vodka is also a great natural disinfectant which can be on surfaces such as cutting boards and on fabrics such as tapestries and curtains. The best part of vodka is that it naturally deodorizes fabrics and carpets, so it's the better alternative as a DIY Fabric Refresher. Hydrogen peroxide used to disinfect most surfaces. Simply place a spray nozzle on the bottle to disinfect surfaces such as doorknobs, seats in the toilet, etc. They are the perfect alternative for the bleach, so don’t use on carpets, upholstery, curtains, and fabrics as it whitens the fabrics.

- 1 part vodka
- ½ tsp Hydrogen Peroxide
- The essential oil of your choice
- A Spray Bottle
- Add 1 part of vodka into the spray bottle. Make sure that the vodka has at least 70% or more of alcohol content. Then add a few drops of the essentials oil. Shake the bottle to combine the vodka and oil.
- Then add ½ tsp of hydrogen peroxide to the mixture and again shake well.
- Your spray is ready. You can also add a label on the bottle for easier identification.
Note: Instead of vodka, one can also use rubbing alcohol. Just don’t dilute the rubbing alcohol with water.

- 1 part vinegar
- The essential oil of your choice
- A Spray Bottle
Procedure
- In the spray bottle, first, add 1 part of vinegar then add a few drops of your favourite essential oils. Since essential oils are strong so a little goes away. Mix well
- Then pour 1 part of water into the mixture. Add the top and again give a good mix to evenly distribute the oils.
- Your DIY disinfectant is ready. Just make sure that you shake the bottle before every use. Also, it is not recommended to be used on marble or granite surfaces because of its acidic properties.
