Washing and Taking Care Of Your Synthetic Garments
October 08, 2018
Synthetic fabrics like polyester, rayon, viscose are strong and wrinkle-resistant unlike natural fibres. But there’s a downside too, such fabrics can hold oil / greasy stains, often pill, fade or turn yellowish in colour with time.
Here’s a list of tips and tricks that you can follow to take proper care of your synthetics
- Read The Label
Make sure you follow the tag instructions if you want that garment to last long. Incase it says that the garment should be “Dry-cleaned only”, we’d suggest you to opt for a premium Laundry and Dry-cleaning service. If you reside in Delhi NCR, you could check out the Launderette App, they’ve got more than a 100 Laundry partners onboard.
But if you’re opting for washing your synthetics yourself, you could follow the below mentioned hacks
- Inside Out
Before you toss that garment directly in to the laundry bag, turn that garment inside out. Why the effort? Well, most synthetic fabrics have a tendency to snag or form pills when rubbed against other fabrics.
- H20 Type
Cold water may not remove those oily greasy stains but hot water is a complete NO-NO! Your garments will bleed, cry and shrink and you’d not want that, do you? We’d recommend you to always wash your synthetics in either room temperature or luke -warm water, doing so will help you remove those stains will ease and maintain your garment’s shape and size too.
- Detergents
Using an all purpose detergent works just fine. Avoid the urge of using detergents are tough on stains as this may end up discoloring your garment.
Tip - Using a fabric softener will significantly reduce static electricity.
- Drying
Go the conventional way! One of the best and easiest ways to dry your garments is to place your garments on a hanger or on a clothesline; this will not only prevent them from shrinkage but also maintain the quality.
Caution: avoid wringing your garments before drying; just press them lightly to remove excess water
- Ironing
Synthetics hardly need ironing, but if it’s really necessary do it with a warm iron and not a hot one. If you’re still skeptical about the iron temperature, just place a cotton towel/sheet over the garment and do the deed without a worry.
- Storing
If you are going to wear them soon the best bet would be to hang them in the wardrobe. But for your longterm storage, folding them gently by their seams is always better. Incase there are several items, place them in a box with a lid and then store your clothes in a dark, cool and dry place away from direct sunlight or moisture and dampness.
Now that you are well aware of these hacks, don’t forget to share your reviews on our FB, Twitter or Insta account.
Happy Launderette-ing!

Tips to make swimsuits last longer
July 25, 2018
We've all experienced the pain of letting go of our favorite swimwear that’s enjoyed too many days in the sun. Sagging elastic, wrinkly padding and discoloration don't make for a good look. Often making you wonder whether it was worth the price, right?
Launderette is out with a few game-changing hacks that’ll stretch the lifespan of your favorite swimwear.
Rinse Your Swim Wear Before And After Your Swim
Before you take a dip just rinse off under the outdoor showers. The fabric will end up absorbing water before it encounters Chlorine, preventing it from discoloration.
Wash It ASAP
Sunblock and body oils do more damage than anything else, so even if you don’t have the time or patience make sure you rinse it at-least with cold/room temperature water after your swim.
Mild Eco Soap
The type of soap you choose has a great influence on how long the colour stays and how well the shape is maintained. A standard laundry detergent may be way too harsh, so using mild eco-friendly detergent, cold water and hand-washing strategy will be just perfect.
Keep in Mind- No hot water or Machine Wash
PS - If you stay in Delhi NCR, you can always opt for experts and share your load. Launderette, a premium online Laundry and Dry-cleaning service app is what we’d recommend you.
Dry Off
If you don’t want your swimwear to be sagging from all the wrong places, make sure you don’t wring out every last drop of water. Instead, lay that wet swimsuit on a towel, roll up the towel and gently press to remove excess water.
And just like sweater, let it dry flat completely before you put it back in your wardrobe. Keep in Mind- Avoid drying it in direct sunlight
Storing
You may not have given this much thought but storing your swimsuit is as important as any of the above-mentioned hacks. Instead of tossing your swimwear in your wardrobe, transfer it into mesh bag that’ll allow proper ventilation.
Congrats!
You’re now well equipped to maximise the life or your swimsuit. Have more tips and trick? Don’t forget to share it with us
