7 Surprising Laundry Hacks You Didn't Know

Laundry is actually one of the most boring household chores but there are numerous ways to do it faster, better, and boredom-free. Check out these seven laundry hacks to get the best possible results.

1 Water Temperature

Cold water is best suited for your delicates, dark colored clothes that tend to bleed and clothes that might shrink. While warm water is perfect for stained clothes and your bedding and bathroom essentials like - towels, bed sheets, covers.

2 Use Less Detergent
Yes, you read that right! While many of us think that overdosing detergents can lead to clean clothes much faster. It’s just a myth. Infact using too much detergent can create so many suds that they’ll trap soil allowing it to redeposit on your garments. So the next time a detergent manufacturer recommends a certain amount, use a little less than that. Your clothes will be just as clean and you’ll end up saving too!

3. Soak Stains Immediately
Act Now! Once the stain occurs avoid wasting time trying to scrub it out, just soak the garment in water, apply a stain remover and get it into the washing machine. You can use tons of household items like lemon juice, baking soda and more but make sure you use the right technique for each type of stain.

4. Sort Them Right
You don’t want to find a white blouse with tie-dyed effect or a white undergarment turned pink. Make sure you sort clothes not just colour wise but fabric wise too and prevent them from bleeding or shrinkage. One of the best ways to avoid shrinkage is to use cold water and avoid a lot of agitation. For clothes that bleed, use a wet cotton swab and rub it on a corner to see if the colour transfers. Incase it does, wash the garment separately and inside out to avoid fading.

5. Boosters & Fabric Softners
Did you know using a fabric softener and selecting the lowest dryer temperature setting possible can reduce fabric wrinkles? Well, now you do! Washing soda and borax work as great fabric softners and boosters. These 2 ingredients boost the performance of a detergent, act as whitners and are deodorisers too.

6. Don’t Overload
Make sure you don’t over stuff your machine that you end up getting clothes that aren’t clean. It’s best advised to fill your washer 3 quarters of the drum.

7. Clean Your Machine
Tell us we’re right if you’ve not heard this one before. And as crazy as it may sound that a machine that cleans your clothes needs cleaning too, it’s true. Cleaning your machine will help you get rid of the dirt and excess soap. All you need to do is add a cup of white vinegar and run the machine without any Laundry.
